REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY
Is there Representative Democracy in the U.S.; was there ever? We have never had the experience of every person living in this country having an equal right to vote. We've never had equality of access to run as candidates for elective office. There are escalating efforts by some to hijack voting and elections, as well as continued determination by those already elected, to construct districts and voting procedures that weaken efforts to build political power locally or to broaden the base of voters.
What can be done to restore and sustain truly Representative Democracy that is inclusive with ease of participation and accessibility to all?
During the Representative Democracy Conference there will be opportunities to discuss and share best practices on the following issues relating to election integrity and instituting real democracy to grow your communities:
--> Campaign finance reform--> Alec Exposed Project
--> Election integrity relating to electronic voting
--> Felony re-enfranchisement
--> Immigrant voting rights
--> Verifying election outcomes
--> Ranked choice voting
--> Voter registration
--> Recapturing legislative redistricting
--> Constitutional right to vote
The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign and Independent Progressive Politics Network are co-conveners of this conference. Send questions or suggestions to speer@wisdc.org or ippn@igc.org.
