Democracy Convention

Democracy is coming... to the U.S.A.

The current global political, legal and economic system - global capitalism - devastates communities, cultures, economies, ecosystems, and popular sovereignty, benefiting the extremely wealthy few and empowering their corporations at the expense of the vast many. Earth Rights and Global Democracy stand as principles of resistance and alternatives to policies that accelerate the transformation of people and planet into commodities controlled by major corporations.

Earth Rights are grounded in a recognition of the inherent rights of all living beings and of Mother Earth. Global Democracy challenges global corporate and state power to promote community sovereignty and participation, global economic federalism, and global human and ecological rights protections.

Join us as we build our global movement together, in sessions that take on:

  • the rise of national and international reactionary and progressive movements;
  • protecting the Earth by asserting the Rights of Nature and the right for ecosystems on which all life depends to thrive and survive;
  • efforts to reform the United Nation’s system of global governance and counteract UN corporatization;
  • alternatives for constructing a democratic global system of governance and economics based on human, ecological, civil and political rights;
  • false solutions to global warming that perpetuate corporate and profit-driven destruction of the plant rather than democratic alternatives for carbon sequestration; and more!

The Alliance for Democracy, Alliance for Global Justice, Universalizing Resistance Project, Mass Global Action, encuentro 5, and Global Climate Convergence are the principal conveners of the Earth Rights & Global Democracy Conference. Contact Nancy Price and Suren Moodliar for more information.
