Democracy Convention

Democracy is coming... to the U.S.A.

Corporate Power affects all of us in different ways and in order to understand the vast impact of growing corporate domination we must learn how it manifests in all communities and movements. Queer and Trans folks have been under attack by hateful ideology and violent policies and must fight for personhood and recognition while corporations are handed personhood for the sake of maximizing profits. The conversation about corporate power and money in politics often excludes the voices of Queer and Trans folks. This panel will address the way corporate power threatens the LGBTQ+ community and movement specifically.

*Please note: The term “Queer” is a reclaimed term used by many within the LGBTQ+ community, but was historically used as a slur. Many LGBTQ+ folks specifically identify as Queer, and others use it as an umbrella term. We use this word in celebration of it’s reclamation but acknowledge that not all within the community identify this way. When in doubt, it’s best to ask folks what words they prefer for themselves.
